Training and Background
Mr Lam graduated from the United
Medical and Dental Schools of Guys and
St Thomas’s Hospitals, University of
London. His Specialist Registrar
training was spent on the Kent, Surrey
and Sussex rotation (Guy’s, King’s and
St Thomas’s Hospitals).
He underwent
further specialist fellowship training
in Shoulder surgery at the world
renowned Cape Shoulder Institute in Cape
Town, South Africa as well as at the
Epsom Shoulder Unit in Surrey, UK. In
addition, he also completed a fellowship
with Professor Jupiter in hand and upper
limb reconstruction at the Massachusetts
General Hospital in Boston, USA. In
addition to his surgical qualifications,
Mr Lam has a Masters degree in
Orthopedic Engineering and his thesis
was centered on the management of
complex elbow fractures.
Mr Lam offers a One-Stop Shoulder
Clinic whereby patients will receive a
consultation, diagnostic ultrasound scan
(carried out by him) and treatment all
in one session. Where appropriate, he
injects the shoulder under ultrasound
guidance thus improving its accuracy and
efficacy.
Special Interests
Mr Lam has particular interests in
disorders of the shoulder including
shoulder instability (SLAP lesions /
labral tears), rotator cuff tear, frozen
shoulder, calcifying tendonitis of
rotator cuff, arthritis of
acromioclavicular joint and shoulder
impingement. He specialises in the
arthroscopic and minimally invasive
treatment of the Shoulder, Elbow (tennis
elbow, golfer’s elbow, elbow stiffness,
loose bodies, synovitis,
osteoarthritis), Wrist (Key hole
surgery, arthritis, wrist fracture) and
hand (finger joint replacement, carpal
tunnel release, trigger finger release,
Dupuytrens)
